About our trainer...

Melody Lee has been with Hoochie Poochie Club since 2013. She first came on board as a dog walking team member, and her interest in animal behavior led her to become a certified dog trainer. Melody completed her training at Animal Behavior College and also studied under the direction of NYC dog trainer Shelby Semel.

  • Dog Training Services

  • At Hoochie Poochie Club, we believe a happy dog is a well-trained dog. Therefore, we offer private training sessions in your home with you and your dog.

  • Initial Consultation... $150.00

  • Every private training session begins with the initial consultation. Lasting approximately 90 minutes, the initial consultation is your chance to tell us what your training goals are. During this time, we'll go over your dog's behavioral history and look at his environment in order to come up with a customized plan to help you and your dog. We will also explain our approach to dog training and answer any questions you may have. Understanding how dogs learn helps you achieve lasting change in your dog's behavior! During the initial consultation, we may handle your dog or ask you to handle him. Hands-on training and demonstrations will occur in the follow-up session. Our training is based around positive reinforcement (R+), so we do not use choke or e-collars.

  • Private 60-minute follow-up sessions: $100.00

  • We ask that you refrain from feeding your dog for at least two hours before each session and provide a variety of treats to help him learn. A mix of his daily kibble and high-value treats (cheese, boiled chicken, etc.) is perfect!

  • New Puppy Package... $675.00

  • *Prices do not include 8.875% NYS Sales Tax

  • Do you have a new puppy in your home and aren't sure where to start? Our new puppy basic obedience package includes an initial consultation and 6 follow-up sessions (60 minutes each) with our dog trainer. These sessions are scheduled at your convenience. All family members who will be involved in your puppy's care (children included) are encouraged to attend. Training is available weekdays, weekday evenings, and Sundays.

  • Our 6-week basic obedience program covers, well, the basics. Your dog will learn Look, Touch, Sit, Down, Stay, Leave It, and Come, not to mention how to walk correctly on the leash. Basic obedience is about more than just rewarding your dog for good behavior—by going over these cues, we teach you and your dog how to work together as a team! We'll also teach you games you can play with your dog to reinforce appropriate behaviors and stimulate him mentally.

  • Just like school, we assign homework that you and your pup can work on between sessions to strengthen your skills. We ask that you refrain from feeding your dog for at least two hours before each session and provide a variety of treats to help him learn. A mix of his daily kibble and high-value treats (cheese, boiled chicken, etc.) is perfect!

Walk and train sessions... $45.00 for 45 minutes

Walk and train sessions are perfect for those dogs that need a little one-on-one training in order to get them ready for play group, correct a particular behavior issue, or work on basic obedience. You as the owner are not present for the walk and train session, but will receive a detailed report with photos and tips for your next walk together (consistency is key!). In order to take advantage of this service, all clients must have a "mini training consultation" with our trainer in order to learn more about your dog and discuss your training goals.
